This is at present the most economic way of heating a property here in France and is not open to the vagaries of oil and gas price increases. Also having a live wood fire just lends a certain "je ne sais quoi" to a house. Should you want to benefit from an additional income, the property lends itself perfectly to the French "gite" system of holiday cottages.
